One way we can build muscles in our physical body is to lift weights. The stronger we get by lifting weights, the more muscular we can become. Consistence and repetition are key to building muscles.
We can borrow this analogy and apply it to building our courage muscle with money.
Suze Orman says, “It takes courage to be rich”.
Why? Because choosing to be rich and wealthy requires you to face everything about your money bravely and with honesty. This is not an easy task for many people.
The added complexity is that money is an emotional currency for women. It is tied to our sense of self-worth and our self confidence. It is also tied to our feelings of safety and security.
It has been said that we make approximately six decisions a day regarding money. Since money is a daily experience, our relationship with money is then further magnified and plays a fundamental role in our success.
In fact, your relationship with money determines whether you will experience success or struggle in your business or career and life.
Here are 3 ways you can strengthen your courage muscle with money:
1) Examine your own relationship with money. What does money mean to you? How does money play out in your life? What is your relationship like with money? Understanding your relationship with money is the foundation to creating financial empowerment as well as realizing your full potential and higher purpose.
2) Face and/or heal your relationship with money. This includes healing those emotions such as fear, shame, blame, guilt and anger as it relates to money. Most of our problems with money have psychological and emotional underpinnings, and this can be deep. When these emotions are present, they become internal obstacles that can prevent us from having and keeping what we want in our lives.
Facing and/or healing your relationship with money is a critical action to help you break free of experiencing a cycle of money drama that can play out in many ways, such as working really hard, but your income isn’t growing, being stuck at the same income bracket, or finding that money seems to just flow in and goes back out again, leaving you with not having enough.
3) You must have the conviction that you can be rich. You may be surprised to learn that often times what can keep you from being rich and wealthy, in most cases, is simply lack of belief. In order to accept wealth and abundance into your life, you must believe that you can do it! It requires an alignment of your belief, intention and actions.
It does take courage to be true to yourself and to be okay with wanting more in your life.
Remember you always have the power to choose to change your current situation and create a new and different reality.
