So what big plans to do you have for your business in 2015? And what’s your big income goal?
The important thing about having a vision and goal in mind is that it can really pull you forward as a guide and keep you focused. It can also help you to get started in planning your year ahead and income as well as creating your marketing calendar.
For many women entrepreneurs, we have lots of ideas of what we’d like to achieve in a day or in a week…and even more so in a year. There can also be enormous pressure that you may place on yourself to get a ton of things little things done. This can consume your energy in the wrong things and create stress, thereby making it harder for you to achieve what’s really important….increasing your income, loving what you do, and making a meaningful impact.
One way to balance potential overwhelm is to have your business vision in place. I’ve created three simple steps that you can adopt to help you create your lucrative business vision for this year. If you’ve already created your big vision, feel free to review it and tweak, as necessary.
Step 1: Identify your overall vision. What is your long-term vision for your business? This can be as BOLD as you want it to be. You can also include a big income goal if you wish. The important thing is to help you anchor it to your greater “why” of why you are doing what you’re doing in business. An example of a business vision can be as simple as “Create a premier health company that teaches women about fitness, balance and overall health and well-being”.
Step 2: Work backwards to identify your one year vision. Once you have identified your long-term vision, now work backwards to identify your one year vision by answering the following question: On December 31, 2015, what do I want to be celebrating in my business?
Step 3: Include key milestones. When answering Step #2 above, include between 2-4 bullet points that are specific, measurable, challenging (to stretch your growth) yet realistic. One of the bullets will include your BOLD income goal. An example of bullet points can include:
• Make $300,000
• Double the number of attendees at my next workshop or event
• Create three information products
• Launch a retreat in Bali
Bonus Step: Create a vision board. You can create a “vision board” of photos, clippings, words, color, etc. and whatever represents your vision for your business. A vision board represents a story of how you see your success and achievements. Be sure to place it somewhere where you can see it daily to keep you on track.
