“Success Leaves Clues.”
I have observed something very interesting about accomplished and talented women entrepreneurs.
The observation is this — when we are transitioning into entrepreneurship or stepping up into the next level of our business success and growth, we tend to forget about our strengths, skills, talents and previous successes. Furthermore, we may even think that we have to start at the very beginning.
Common statements I hear are…”I don’t know what I’m doing” or “I’ve never done this before, so this might not turn out right”…or “I wish I can make it look as easy as she does”.
Have you ever thought or spoken these words? Well, I have…because…I also observed this pattern in me.
You see when I was transitioning from a successful corporate career to entrepreneurship; I froze, just like the expression, “deer in the headlights”. I had never been an entrepreneur before and while I had passion in my heart to transform lives and change the world, I was a new business owner. And since I had no previous experience in this area, I wanted, and had to learn the ins and outs of being a successful business owner.
This is a natural process because the more we are comfortable with something, the more confident we become. The detour I took, however, was that I did not leverage and incorporate all of my strengths, talents, skills, other training and experiences into my new business, believing that it was somehow no longer relevant.
Instead, I spent time compartmentalizing, learning as much as I could and acquiring new skills and training, yet disconnected from my past…And, therefore, being out of alignment. It was like having “amnesia”. Sounds odd now, I know, but there it is.
Then one day, I had a powerful realization that in order to be in full alignment with who I am and with my highest purpose, I had to leverage everything — my strengths, skills, talents, training, education, wins, life experiences and successes — and integrate them fully with the new learnings, experiences and successes I now had into my business.
After all, “success leaves clues”. And, like you, I already knew how to be successful.
This was a turning point. It’s the moment I call “Lifting the Veil of Amnesia”. When the veil was lifted, I came into alignment with myself, my mission and my business. Then everything else followed. That’s when my business took off and income really increased rapidly.
I often speak to my clients about “Lifting the Veil of Amnesia” and they laugh at first when hearing the term, then they take it to heart. This results in their experiencing inner peace, success and fulfillment.
If this resonates with you, here are three areas where you can nurture and leverage more alignment:
The first area is leveraging accolades. Are there awards and honors that you received and forget to mention on your website or bio?
The second area is reviewing your current bio and assessing where you may be holding back by excluding your very own “before and after” story, your successes and most of all, your brilliance.
The third area is taking inventory of your strengths and talents that come to you naturally and when you are immersed in them, it feels like “play”. Is there a program or training or talk you can create that enables you to leverage your strengths and talents? This can be so much fun and profitable at the same time.
So what about you, dear reader? Is it time to “Lift the Veil of Amnesia”? What specific strength, skill or experience do you need to leverage and incorporate into your business for success?
